WHEN THE LORD LEAVES (Amos 1:2, 8:11)

“..the lord roars out of Zion and utters his voice from Jerusalem; then the pastures of the shepherds mourn and the top of Carmel dries up”

When the lord leaves, when the one who understand how things work leaves, when the one who knows the end from the beginning leaves, when the ever present and ever faithful God decides to take a break, when the one who speaks life and who gives life leaves.

King Saul was a cool headed guy, the Israelites wanted a king badly, God gave Saul and as Saul left Samuel, he was given a new heart and he began his duty as a king, he went for a battle from which God commanded nothing must be brought back, destroy everything that exist there, well he saw some beautiful things that he believed would be good for him and his people, he spared them and in the process disobeyed the lord. Same Saul the bible recorded the spirit of God departed from him, how interesting, the Lord excused Saul and we all know what happened.

Someone may wonder if God can really leave since the earth and his fullness belongs to him, yah, more reason he can choose to make his absence or present felt in a location. The physical man of Saul was still living after that but his spirit man was dead because the part of him that brings about the awareness of God’s presence was formatted(completely deleted).

When he leaves, the opposite of what he does when he is present will be done in his absence, his presence brings joy, his absence brings the opposite, when he’s there, there is peace, but his absence takes the peace away. Since his presence gives life, everything that has life dries up at his absence. When the lord leaves, his mercy leaves with him, God’s mercy left Sodom and Gomorrah. His presence brings instruction while his absence brings destruction. His absence brings condemnation.

I bet you and I don’t want to imagine how his absence will be like, the devil can tell the story better than anyone.

Okay what can make God leave, because in the real sense of it, he can’t leave anyone or any place just like that. Then I take a look at these cases; that of Saul, Saul left the lord’s presence when he went against the lord’s will. In the case of Sodom, these guys left the lord’s presence when they decided to live a life that disgust the lord and not even 10 of them was on the lord’s side. The devil left the lord’s side when he covets the seat of the most high.

One thing led to another, our God is wonderful and merciful, he is slow to anger and full of mercy, his grace is sufficient for you but the fear of the lord his the beginning of wisdom or anything good. He doesn’t share his glory with any, fear (not be afraid) him and you forever enjoy him.
