As a father, your pride is for your son to obey you, if you speak to many children, you are more positive about your son listening than others, at least you have someone to brag of.
The reverse was the case for
Saul, he spoke and his son heareth not, other people heard and obeyed with all
their strength. Jonathan disobeyed because he didn’t even know what the
instruction was.
Proverbs 3:5-7 made us understand
we should trust in God, lean not on our understanding and he will direct our
path, but that will be the God you hear when he speaks.
Jonathan brought a curse upon
himself for this, what can make one not hear when the father speaks?
Availability, If you aren’t available when he is speaking, if your mind is far
off, if you are gone in worry, if you harden your heart you can’t hear even if
he uses a microphone.
Make yourself available first and
see if you won’t hear.
