God’s mercy is not “bit by bit” but”
once and for all”.
He doesn’t forgive or wash half
of your sin, he washes all that stinks. He is not man, don’t treat or relate
with him like one. You don’t have to pay him damages for your wrongs, he paid
for those. If you can run to him as a sinner, he is ready to take you back full
time not part-time.
The prodigal son was coming with
the “at least” kind of mindset, at least if you can’t forgive all, please
forgive half, I will be ok, I just need a bit of relieve here, really! But the
father took him like he never wronged him, like it never happened.
If you will ask your father on
earth fish and he wouldn’t give snake, you ask bread and he wouldn’t give stone
in turn, how much more your heavenly father, he gives more than you ask, he is
a king of father who gives when you don’t ask, how much more when you ask.
He pardons sin in abundance, he abundantly
pardons your sin, when will confess our sins, he is faithful and just to
forgive all not part. He loves a contrite and repentant heart, it was quite
glaring in the prodigal son’s story.
It wasn’t his well prepared
speech of asking to be a servant that saved him but the everlasting love of the
father and the repentant heart he brought to the throne. You can read your
speech and still not be forgiven, but you may not even say a word and the
father say, “it’s ok I’ve heard your heart”.
